Student Perceptions of the Impact of Quality Matters Essential Standards in an Animal Physiology Course

Abstract As online learning becomes increasingly popular in higher education, the quality of courses that utilize this modality is becoming a focus inquiry. Quality Matters (QM) leading assurance organization reviews and hybrid (partially online, partially in-person) for standards pedagogy instructional design certifies sufficiently meet these standards. In study, we examine student perceptions course three-credit-hour animal science has been certified by QM. The class met twice week 1.25 hours with one period person. It consisted 11 modules, each which included content, activities assessments. Upon completion, 46 114 students completed survey they rated on 21 QM essential (5th edition). Descriptive analysis revealed 19 specific review standards, 75% to 91% agreed or strongly reflected best practice described standard. For other two over half (72%, 63%) practices were design. Another way data collapse into eight general categories as specified QM; collapsed 88% percentage disagreeing was 11% lower. Cronbach internal consistency questionnaire (0.96), indicated instrument reliability stability.
